How to Get Your Costco Purchase History (Online Orders & Warehouse Receipts)

Costco Keeps Better Records Than Your Shoebox

If you buy business supplies at Costco, the receipts you need at tax time are already sitting in your Costco account — for both costco.com orders and in-warehouse trips. You don't need to hoard paper register tapes or dig through email confirmations.

That matters because the IRS expects records showing the amount, date, and business purpose of every deduction you claim. Costco's purchase history covers the first two automatically, line by line. This guide walks through pulling all of it, then turning it into documented tax deductions.

Step 1: Sign In and Open Orders & Purchases

Go to costco.com, sign in, and open Orders & Purchases from your account menu. Your membership number must be linked to your online account — warehouse purchases are tied to the membership card you scan at the register, so if you checked out with your card, the trip is in there.

You'll see two views: online orders (costco.com and same-day delivery) and in-warehouse purchases. You need both, and they're saved in different formats.

Online Orders: Save the Order Details Page as a PDF

  1. Open Orders & Purchases and find the order you want.
  2. Click into the order and open its printable Order Details view.
  3. Print the page and choose Save as PDF as the destination.
  4. Repeat for each order in the tax year you're documenting.

Each Order Details PDF captures the order number, order date, every line item with its price, any discounts, the payment method, and the shipping address — everything a deduction record needs, plus the shipping and payment details that help establish which purchases were for the business.

Warehouse Trips: Reprint Your Register Receipts

In-warehouse purchases live in the same Orders & Purchases page under your in-warehouse history. Open a trip and choose to view or print the receipt — Costco regenerates the full register tape, with every item, per-item tax flags, instant-savings discounts, and the card used. Save it as a PDF the same way.

These reprints are exactly as valid as the paper tape from the register, and considerably easier to read at tax time — especially months later when "KS SLT GRNDR" means nothing to you and you need the itemized record to reconstruct what the trip was for.

How Far Back Can You Go?

Costco's site typically shows around the last two years of purchases, which comfortably covers the tax year you're filing plus the prior one. If you need older records — say, for an amended return or an audit — Costco member services or the membership counter at your warehouse can often retrieve purchase history that's no longer visible online.

The practical takeaway: pull your PDFs once a year rather than letting history age out. A January session saving last year's orders and receipts takes fifteen minutes and means you're never chasing records Costco no longer shows.

Turn the PDFs Into Tax Deductions

A folder of PDFs is documentation; it isn't analysis. WriteOffCoach reads both Costco formats directly — upload order and receipt PDFs one at a time or as a single ZIP of the whole year, and every line item is classified against real tax rules with IRS citations, alongside your Amazon order history if you upload that too.

The mixed business-and-personal cart that makes Costco receipts painful to sort by hand is exactly what the classification engine is built for: each line gets its own deduction assessment, and the judgment calls are flagged for your review instead of guessed.
